本舞是流行於法國布列塔尼地區(Brittany,法文: Bretagne) 的民謠與土風舞.
Brittany的意思是"來自大布列顛",位於法國的西北部,屬於半島地形.

本舞是由保加利亞老師 Yves Moreau 於1977年在美國加州Mendocino土風舞營中介紹. 不用懷疑,
為什麼是保加利亞老師來教法國舞,人家術業有專攻嘛.
別看這首舞簡單,發源地又是小小的西北半島地方,歐洲的音樂舞蹈,
只要你深入去探索,處處是驚奇!  ,以布列特尼來說,這個半島有他們
自己的方言,有他們自己特殊的舞蹈文化.這個地方的方言名為:"Breton",
而他們自有的舞蹈文化通稱為"Breton Dance". 一般生活中,不同的音樂與舞蹈
代表他們在民間社會中身份的表徵.舞蹈則分不同場合,不同目的,不同身份,跳的舞
會不一樣.以地區的不同來說,一般分為Upper Brittany/Lower Brittany,
Lower Brittany基本舞型大約有以下5種:
1.the Gavotte
2.the En Dro
3.the Dañs Treger
4.the Dañs Leon
5.the Dañs tro Plinn
Upper Brittany舞蹈的分類則還沒有很明確,一般以還是以Upper Brittany來代表.
巴尼魯本舞名意思為" Lambaol 的旗幟", 流行於布列特尼的北部,是由Laridé 舞型
演變而來的.楊昌雄老師譯介時的說明,本舞為兒童舞蹈.聽其節奏明顯,旋律簡單,
應該就是開發兒童音樂潛能的歌曲與舞蹈吧.
